Bridge 6

The top of Bridge 6 leads to Holmingham Farm and has the feeling of a castle's drawbridge. The bridge is quite a large structure and the drop down from the top is a fair old way.The stonework at the top has been well maintained,as I imagine it would have to be,as this appears to be the only access to the farm by road. The span of the arch is an impressive sight and again here I marvelled at the building skills of yesteryears builders.

Fairly nearby we found a pile of old railway fence posts, that looked as though they'd been untouched since they were removed from they old fence that ran alongside the railway fifty years ago. They obviously took the rails and sleepers that could be reused or sold, but weren't so eager to take the old concrete away.

Walking on under the bridge you really once again, get a feeling of how special the Exe Valley Railway was and what a shame it is that it is no more. The woodland setting added a magical feeling to everthing and there was a sense that there was much more to come,as we looked down the tree made tunnel that takes the line down to Cove Halt.

When we had set out to find all these bridges,I didn't really believe that we would find them all and that other than one, they would all be intact, but we found them all.I had thought that maybe the Exe Valley Railway was gone but not forgotten, but it seems there are many parts of it that are forgotten, but not gone!
