What it Looks Like Today:Bampton to Lower Lodfin Crossing
Looking north,it is easy to see where the line went, straight on up through some gates that the present owners have put there. It is also easy to see where the line went looking south, off into the distance towards Bampton, with Lodfin Farm on its right. Not a great deal has changed really, other than the track being removed and it being a bit overgrown.
After looking around and taking these pictures,we left Lower Lodfin and drove to Bampton and parked on top of the old station, before walking down to Frog Street.
If you have studied the maps as much as I have and you look to your left as you walk down Frog Street,it is relatively easy to spot where the line once was.Of course it is an overgrown hedge line now,but it still stands out.
Right at the bottom of Frog Street, you come to a lovely little bridge. It is typical of these lovely little forgotten rail bridges,as in it's well built, has an historic feel to it and is aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
