What it Looks Like Today: Exeter St.David's Station
It was now almost time for our return train,so we just spent our remaining time taking as many pictures as we could.I also just stood there for a while imagining what it must have been like to get on an Exe Valley train and travel all the way back home.
Our train home arrived and as we sat watching the faces as we pulled out of the station,Christine and I both agreed that we had had quite a nice time visiting Exeter St.David's.We're not "anoraks" or anything or at least we don't think we are,but it was surprisingly fun and interesting to visit a working station and we would probably do it again and recommend it to others.
The 15 minute trip back to Tiverton Parkway zoomed by,but if you look closely and quickly, you can spot the abandoned platforms of Stoke Canon Station.Whilst walking back to our car I thought how ridiculous it was, that the nearest train station to Tiverton is actually about 7 miles away and how foolish it was to have got rid of not only the Exe Valley Railway, but the Tiverton Branch Line as well.Really short sighted.
